AMD is preparing to update its desktop processor lineup with new Ryzen 8000G series APUs for the Socket AM5 platform, as well as new SKUs for AM4. Pricing details for many of these chips can be found in our recent report. One of the listed chips is the Ryzen 7 5700 Socket AM4 processor, which is a mysterious addition. Although the pricing is unknown, AMD has quietly provided product information on its website. According to the product page, the chip was supposed to be released in April 2022, but it never made it to the retail market.
The Ryzen 7 5700 is an 8-core/16-thread processor that does not have integrated graphics. However, it is based on the 7 nm "Cezanne" monolithic silicon and has similar clock speeds to the Ryzen 7 5700G APU. Essentially, it can be seen as the 5700G with its integrated GPU disabled. The chip has a CPU base frequency of 3.70 GHz, slightly lower than the 3.80 GHz of the 5700G, but both have the same maximum boost frequency of 4.60 GHz. Each of the eight "Zen 3" CPU cores has 512 KB of dedicated L2 cache and shares a 16 MB L3 cache. The processor has a TDP of 65 W and comes with a Wraith Stealth cooling solution in the retail package. One drawback of choosing the 5700 over something like the 5700X is its lack of a PCIe Gen 4 interface, limiting it to the older Gen 3 and resulting in a slower NVMe storage sub-system.
