SilverStone Unveils FLP03: A Modern PC Case with Classic 1980s Flair

SilverStone has expanded its retro-inspired case lineup with the introduction of the FLP03, blending vintage aesthetics with modern hardware compatibility. Showcased at EXPO 2025 in Japan, the FLP03 continues the series’ homage to 1980s office-tower designs, featuring signature beige plastics and a flat, minimalist front panel reminiscent of classic computing hardware.

Design and Compatibility

The FLP03 measures 220 × 456 × 477 mm, offering support for both microATX and Mini-ITX motherboards. Staying true to its retro roots, the case includes three external 5.25-inch drive bays, which can be adapted for 2.5-inch drives, alongside internal mounts for both 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch storage devices. This flexibility makes the FLP03 suitable for users who require a mix of legacy and modern storage solutions.

Advanced Cooling Options

Despite its vintage appearance, the FLP03 is engineered for effective cooling. The case comes equipped with a 180 mm front fan and supports up to three 120 mm or two 140 mm fans on the top panel, as well as a 120 mm rear fan. For users interested in liquid cooling, the top panel can accommodate a 360 mm radiator, though installing it will occupy one of the 5.25-inch bays.

Generous Hardware Support

The FLP03 is designed to house high-performance components. It supports graphics cards up to 412 mm in length and 156 mm in width, and CPU coolers up to 171 mm tall with the expansion-card retainer installed (167 mm without it). The case also features five expansion slots and supports ATX power supplies up to 180 mm in length, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of modern hardware.

Retro Features Meet Modern Connectivity

One of the standout features of the FLP03 is its authentic retro front panel, complete with a Turbo button that instantly pushes all PWM fans to maximum speed. The panel also includes a built-in numeric display for real-time CPU frequency monitoring, dedicated power and reset buttons, and a key lock for added security. For connectivity, the front I/O panel offers USB-C, dual USB 3.0 ports, and separate audio and microphone jacks, meeting the needs of contemporary users.

Availability and Expected Pricing

While SilverStone has not yet announced official pricing or a global release date, reports indicate that the FLP03 will be available in Japan around February or March 2026. Given that the larger FLP02 model is priced at $239.99, it is anticipated that the FLP03 will launch at a slightly lower price point, likely around $199.

The SilverStone FLP03 stands out as a unique blend of retro design and modern functionality, appealing to enthusiasts who appreciate classic aesthetics without compromising on hardware support or cooling performance.
