Radeon RX 9070 GRE Graphics Card Rumors
The upcoming Radeon RX 9070 GRE 12 GB graphics card model appears to be the next release in AMD's RDNA 4 lineup. While official materials hinted at a Q2'25 launch for the Radeon RX 9060 Series, insiders suggest that AMD may introduce an intermediate option before the Radeon RX 9060 XT 16 GB and 8 GB SKUs. Rumors indicate that the new "Great Radeon Edition" (GRE) cards will likely be exclusive to the Chinese market, potentially filling a strategic gap in AMD's product lineup.
Local sources have mentioned a shortage of Radeon RX 9070 (non-XT) 16 GB cards in the region, leading to speculation that the Radeon RX 9070 GRE model could replace them. Initial leaks suggest that the RX 9070 GRE will feature 12 GB of VRAM, a 192-bit memory interface, and a "reduced" "Navi 48" GPU die.
Recent reports suggest that the Radeon RX 9070 GRE model may use a "Navi 48 XL" GPU variant with 3072 stream processors, compared to the 4096 SPs in the RX 9070 XT. The GPU core frequency is expected to be higher than the RX 9070, with a boost clock of 2.79 GHz resulting in around 17.1 TFLOPS. Some custom variants may even reach a 3.0 GHz boost clock, allowing for overclocking.
The latest leaks confirm a 12 GB pool of GDDR6 VRAM clocked at 18 Gbps, providing a memory bandwidth of 432 GB/s. Industry experts believe that AMD will rely on AIBs to produce custom versions of the RDNA 4 products, with limited "reference designs" available in China through unofficial channels.
